Dong-Hee Suh founded Suh & Co in 2000 after practicing law for more than 15 years in Korea and the United States (including eight years with the Korean law firm of Kim & Chang). Suh & Co started as a boutique firm, specializing in maritime, aviation, international business transactions, and insurance law aimed at providing top-quality, one-stop legal solutions to its clients in the transportation industry. Staying true to this vision of the firm, Suh & Co has expanded in size and diversified its practice areas considerably over the past eight years in order to meet the various needs of our clients. As a result, Suh & Co¡¯s corporate and finance practices are as strong today as our other practice groups, and we boast growing practices in a number of other areas.
Our commitment to one-stop legal service means that we must act as both advocate and advisor to our clients. In both capacities we have a longstanding history and significant experience in the Korean market. As advocates, we regularly represent clients in lawsuits and arbitrations occurring in Korea and provide strategic support for clients facing legal proceedings in foreign jurisdictions. Our litigation and arbitration expertise is well established and while we are highly specialized in complex, international commercial disputes, we also have excellent general civil and criminal litigation practices. Since our firm¡¯s inception, we have successfully represented clients at every level of the Korean court system in a wide variety of cases, including disputes involving areas as diverse as admiralty law, corporate (including securities litigation) and finance law, contracts, tax law, administrative law, labor law, domestic relations, torts, criminal law, intellectual property, and environmental law. Suh & Co regularly represents both foreign and domestic clients in all of these areas.
Providing one-stop legal service also requires that we act as advisors to our clients in a variety of transactional matters. Over the past eight years we have advised Korean companies, as well as the Korean government, on international joint venture and project finance agreements, and we have served as outside counsel to many foreign companies undertaking foreign direct investments in Korea. Our traditional connection to the maritime industry has allowed us unique opportunities to specialize in advising clients on large-scale port investment and related infrastructure projects, as well as a wide variety of shipbuilding contracts and ship finance transactions.
As a smaller firm highly specialized in maritime law and international commercial transactions, Suh & Co is able to offer the same reliable and quality legal service to its clients while maintaining a commitment to client satisfaction and personal service unrivaled by any of its peers. While this has long been evident to our Korean clients, it is especially true for our foreign client base due to the excellence of our foreign members and the close teamwork-based approach we use to tackle cases and provide meaningful solutions to our clients. Suh & Co currently employs one US-trained lawyer in addition to our superb team of Korean lawyers and support staff, and we have always provided the same quality service to our foreign clients in English as we offer to our domestic clients in their native language.
We appreciate your interest in our law firm and we welcome you to look around our website and review the work of our various practice groups or contact us if you have any unanswered questions about our firm or our services. We hope to hear from you should you need to retain legal counsel in Korea. |
